Event table notes

Event data
Name: Hamburg Club Tournament - Group I
Place: Hamburg
Start date: 3 Nov. 1876
End date: 30 Mar. 1877

Notes:
This was an 8-player double-round all-play-all tournament, but Hamel forfeited both his games against Gehrckens, Goehle, and Erhardt. These forfeited games are, of course, not included here for rating purposes. The play-off for second prize should have been between Gehrckens, Goehle, and Rocamora, but Gehrckens withdrew. Goehle and Rocamora should have played a match for the first to win two games, but we are not told the score of the match, only that Goehle won, so I record it as a 1-0 result. I am guessing that the Zimmermann who played here was H. Zimmermann, who joined the Hamburger Schachklub in 1876, but it could also have been C.J. Zimmermann.
