| The American Chess Bulletin of Aug. 1906 (p.168) has 'L. Rosenthal' here, but it seems likely to have been Jacob Rosenthal, mentioned several other places in that volume. The Rice Trophy Tournament in Trenton Falls was at the end of July 1906, so I am guessing that this tournament to select a candidate to represent the Rice Club took place earlier in July. In the end Roething could not go, and Emmanuel Lasker was sent instead. |
