| This was a 9-player knockout tournament. Hirschberg got a bye in the first round; Northcote got a bye in the second round. Northcote still had to play Stark, but the game between them at the Toronto Club tournament on 30 Apr. 1880 seems also to have counted for this tournament, unless they played two games on the same day (both results are reported in the 11 May 1880 Globe, p.8, as played on 30 Apr. 1880). Stark won. I record it there, rather than here for rating purposes. |
