| This was the fourth of a series of matches between these two clubs. The report in the 6 Jan. 1872 issue of the Illustrated London News (p.15) says that the match had 'just finished'. I will guess that this means it took place near the end of December 1871, as the colunns normally had to go to press some days before printing. |
