Notes: |
The Victoria Daily Colonist of 3 Apr. 1896 (p.8) gives the result as +7-1=2 for Piper, but this contradicts the statement a few lines above that Piper had just won the 'ninth and last' game of the match. In fact, if the reports on the match as it progressed are followed, it is clear that the result was +6-1=2 for Piper. This agrees with Stephen Wright's statement that Piper won 7-2. |
