| Part of a 21-game match (draws not counting) in which Staunton gave different odds to Harrwitz. These 7 games were played with no odds. Giffen gives date as Oct. 1846; Di Felice gives Sept.-Oct. 1846. The match was announced as forthcoming in the 15 Aug. 1846 issue of the Illustrated London News and the 5 Sept. 1846 issue reported the result of the first 8 games (of the whole match), so I presume it began in Aug. The 10 Oct. 1846 issue of the Illustrated London News said the match had 'terminated a few days since'. Le Palamède gives dates Sept. and Oct. 1846. |
