| Staunton printed a game between these two players in the Illustrated London News of 26 Jan. 1850 (p.59) but in the 9 Feb. 1850 issue, he reported that the game had not been part of the official match, in which Hughes had won every game. I don't know how many games were played, so I give it as a soft result of 1-0 for Hughes. I am guessing that this is the same 'Hughes' as the one who played at Manchester 1857 and Birmingham 1858. |
