| The Field of 30 Dec. 1876 says that this second match between Thorold and Rudge was in progress, the score being +1-1 so far. Thus, I presume it began in Dec. 1876. The result is mentioned in the 24 Nov. 1877 issue of the Illustrated London News (p.511) but it finished no doubt much earlier in the year. |
