Rowland in Pollock Memories (p.4) gives +6-6=5, but according to Hilbert, the Montreal Gazette for 16 Feb. 1895 suggests that there were only 4 draws. The New York Recorder of 24 Feb. 1895 gives +6-6=4 but explains that one of these games was forfeited by Pollock when he did not appear for a game. Pollock had won the previous game, but Gossip complained of noisy spectators and the committee cancelled that game from the score. Thus, the score of games actually played (excluding the forfeited game and including the cancelled game) was +7-5=4 for Pollock. This is the result we use here for rating purposes. |
