| Bachmann, Feenstra Kuiper, Sunnucks, Golombek and Di Felice give date as 1848; Spinrad gives 1848 or 1847, depending on the source; La Grande Storia degli Scacchi and the Berliner Schachverband website give 1847. The Chess Player's Chronicle (vol.9, Mar. 1848, p.65) says that Harrwitz's and Mayet's visits to Berlin occurred at 'the close of last year and the commencement of the present'. However, the Schachzeitung of Aug. 1849 (p.259) says that these games were played in Dec. 1847. Bachmann gives the result as +5-2=1 for Harrwitz. Other sources give +5-2=2 for Harrwitz. |
