| Van Winsen in Mackenzie, Mason & Co., Part VI (pp.25, 111), says that although the Brookly Prospect of 15 Mar. 1873 and the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of 17 Mar. 1873 gave a final result of 3-2 for Barnett, the Spirit of the Times of 22 Mar. 1873 gave the result as 5-4 for Barnett. Van Winsen speculates that the report in the Spirit of the Times might have included drawn games (so +3-2=4 for Barnett). |
