| This result is suggested in the 23 Feb. 1845 issue of Bell's Life in London, in a reply to a correspondent, but it is not very clear. He says 'Daniels won the match hollow. We forget the number of games, but something like 7 to 4. In the other two matches Mr. Williams was the victor.' Presumably, Williams was the victim in the first match mentioned, and I will guess that it took place in 1844. |
