| These games were played around the time of the Kolisch-Horwitz Match (29 Oct. to 2 Nov. 1860). In the 25 Nov. 1860 issue of the Era, Löwenthal says that 'The third game was abandoned by Mr Kolisch, owing to the advanced hour to which it lasted, and Mr Kolisch having next day to play a Match-game with Mr Horwitz.' In the 1 Dec. 1860 issue of the Manchester Weekly Express and Guardian, Stanley says that Kolisch resigned the third game. Zavatarelli dates the games to 27 and 28 Oct. 1860. |
