| The Jan. 1890 issue of the British Chess Magazine (p.6) says the match had just started, and on the same page are reported events of 30 Dec. 1889, so I am guessing that this match started at the beginning of Jan. 1890, though it might have been the very end of Dec. 1889. The Feb. issue (p.42) gives the final result, so I suppose that it finished within the month of January. |
