Notes: |
This is apparently a continuation of a match that they played in 1862 (from Apr. to at least Nov.). The score after the game in Nov. 1862 was +4-3=3 for Löwenthal. The Oct. 1863 issue of the Chess Player's Magazine (p.128) and the 27 Sept. 1863 issue of the Era (p.14) report that the match had recently been continued, with one draw played, leaving the result excluding draws still +4-3 for Löwenthal. The 11 Oct. 1863 issue of the Era (p.14) says another draw had then been played. The Dec. 1863 issue of the Chess Player's Magazine (p.176), however, gives the total result to date as still being +4-3=1 for Löwenthal, presumably in error. I record this continuation as a separate match, since there was such a long delay and these two games were played in a different year from the previous games. |
