| Notes: |
| Described by de Saint-Amant in a letter to Le Palamède (15 Jul. 1836, pp.186-191) dated 10 June 1836, so the games were played earlier than this. The 15 May 1836 issue of Le Palamède (p.110) says that de Saint-Amant was to be in London in the first days of June. These games seem not to have comprised a formal match, but were taken as a serious challenge. |
