| The Era of 4 Dec. 1864 (p.4) says that these games were played 'on Tuesday last', which I take to mean 29 Nov. 1864 (but might mean 22 Nov. 1864). It says that they played 'some games ...each winning two', which might mean that there were also some draws. Löwenthal's opponent is referred to only as the President of the Blackheath Club. There are many sources indicating that the president at that time was W.S. Gover. |
