Event table notes

Event data
Place: Berlin
Start date: 1839
End date: 7 Oct. 1839
This is the result of the second set of 50 games between Mayet and von der Lasa in 1839. The first set would have been included in the tournament result in which each of 5 players attempted to play 50 games against each of the others, but the result there between Mayet and von der Lasa is not given. In this second set of 50 games, von der Lasa says that he won by a single game. Von der Lasa also mentions later 50-game sets between him and Mayet (he says they played 400 in total in this series), and says that another set finishing 16 May 1841 was also only decided by the 50th game (meaning 25.5-24.5 for one or the other). However, he says that there were bigger differences in other sets of 50, without saying who had the advantage, so there may be bias in the reporting as a result of von der Lasa's modesty. I will only include the one result of the second set of 50 games for which we have the precise score.
