Event data |
Place: New York |
Start date: Sep. 1852 |
End date: Sep. 1852 |
|
Notes: |
According to Fiske (p.411), these games took place 'during the early part of the year'. However, Staunton prints a letter describing de Saint-Amant's visit to New York in the 2 Oct. 1852 issue of the Illustrated London News (p.283). Stanley himself gives two of the games dated 7 Sep. 1852 in the Albion of 18 Sep. 1852. Thus, I am tentatively assigning this encounter to the month of September. |
