Falkbeer in the Sunday Times of 19 Jun. 1859 (supplement, p.3) and Dubois in La Rivista degli Scacchi (1859, p.151) give a score for Anderssen of +6-1 and several draws. Renette and Zavatarelli (p.38) give +7-1 and several draws in their text (citing the Schachzeitung, but that gives one win for Suhle out of seven decisive games), but then in the result list immediately below, they give +1-6='several' for Suhle. Since the latter agrees with Falkbeer Dubois and the Schachzeitung, I will take it to be correct. I have assumed two draws, since 'several' means more than one, but we don't know how many there were. To make matters more confusing, Zavatarelli, in his biography of Kolisch, gives the score +6-2=1 for Anderssen, presumably referring to this series of games, since the score is even less similar to any of the results between these two players in Aug. 1859. |
