| Allen (in Fiske), says these games were played at the last meeting between Schlumberger and Vethake (and Vezin), before Schlumberger's departure for Havana on 9 Nov. 1837. Therefore, I have guessed that the date was Oct. 1837. Though the score was even between Vethake and Schlumberger, Allen reports that Vethake said that he was 'unusually fortunate' on this occasion. |
