| The match was announced in the 28 Apr. 1855 issue of the Illustrated London News (p.403), but according to the 5 May 1855 issue (p.427), the match was postponed when Laroche arrived in Paris and de Rivière played a match with him first. The end of that match was announced in the 26 May 1855 issue, and a game between de Rivière and Schulten appeared in the 30 June 1855 issue. In the 14 July 1855 issue, games between de Rivière and von der Lasa are reported. From all the above information, I guess that the de Rivière-Schulten match was played in June 1855. |
