Staunton gives the result part way through the match as +3-2 for Harrwitz in the 27 Dec. 1856 issue of the Illustrated London News (p.648), citing the Dec. issue of La Régence. He says the match was for the first to win seven games. Spinrad says the Oxford Encyclopaedia of Chess Games gives an incomplete score, but does not say what that is, and Spinrad also gives a partial score, +3-2 for Harrwitz, from the Chess Monthly. Di Felice gives +2-1 for Harrwitz in 1856. Sunnucks, Golombek and Sarah's Harrwitz page give +5-2 for Harrwitz. |
