| According to Lawson, this game was played on 7 Oct. 1857. The New York Daily Tribune of 8 Oct. 1857 says either that Mead lost two games to Morphy the day before, or that Hammond lost two games to Mead (it is not entirely clear). Other sources say that Mead lost one game to Morphy. |
