Notes: |
This is a soft result, included to try to gauge Luchini's strength in relation to English players. Dubois discusses the visit of Wyvill, Knight, and a third English player to Rome in 1840. The name of this third player Dubois did not recall, but they nicknamed him 'il gatto nero'. Dubois says only that Luchini generally won against the third English player ('vincendo generalmente'). I use a 2.5-0.5 result for Luchini to represent 'generally won' as more than 2 to 1 but less than 'always won'. |
