Di Felice gives a result of +4-0=0 for Morphy over Worrall in New Orleans in 1858 (with no indication of any odds given). Fiske (p.512) also says they played in 1858 (after W.W. Montgomerey's visit in March) at Knight odds, Morphy winning a slight majority. Lawson and Sarah's Morphy website say Morphy won 8 of 15. Lawson gives the date as Apr. 1858. The Illustrated London News of 22 May 1858 (p.519) gives +8-7 for Morphy, as does Lange, quoting the Chess Monthly. |
