Notes: |
This result, not given in other accounts of play between Martinez and Mackenzie, is given by Congdon in an account of his visit with Martinez to New York, published in the British Chess Magazine of Jun. 1897 (and quoted by van Winsen). He says that these 4 games were played first, and that then Mackenzie requested to play further games, and the result of those (+3-2=1 for Martinez) is the one usually given. |
