| The Maryland Chess Review of Feb. 1875 and the New York Clipper of 20 Feb. 1875 give a result of games played between Delmar and Elson in Philadelphia as +4-3=1 for Elson, and the Hartford Weekly Times of 6 Feb. 1875 gives +4-3 for Elson (ignoring the draw), but that included a formal match with result +3-1=1 for Elson, recorded separately here, and so the remaining offhand games had result +2-1=0 for Delmar. In volume VII of Mackenzie, Mason and Co. (p.112), van Winsen gives +2-1 for Delmar in offhand games. |
