| Notes: |
| Reichhelm gives +2-0=1 for Morphy at Knight odds, following his 0-2 loss also at Knight odds a few days earlier, but this time stipulating that Thomas had to defend with 1...e5. Di Felice gives +2-0=1 without indicating any odds were given. Löwenthal, in the Era of 18 Dec. 1859 (p.13) and Fiske, in the Chess Monthly of Dec. 1859 (p.391), give a total of the two matches of +2-2=1, implying that the second was +2-0=1 also. Lawson, Kingston and Sarah's Morphy website give +2-0=0 on 7 Nov. and +1-0=1 on 14 Nov. 1859 and also say that Thomas had to defend with 1...e5. |
