Notes: |
First of two matches between Kolisch and Maude in 1860. The result +3-3=1 is reported in the 21 July 1860 issue of the Illustrated London News, saying it was 'lately played', so I guess that it finished in July 1860. The same result is given in the Aug. 1860 issue of La (Nouvelle) Régence (p.253). In answers to correspondents on an unnumbered cover page of the Aug. 1860 issue of the Chess Player's Chronicle, the result +3-3=2 is given. Spinrad gives 4-3 for Kolisch from the Oxford Encyclopedia of Chess Games, but this may include games from the second match as well? |
