| Hazeltine's New York Clipper column of 9 Mar. 1861 (cited incorrectly as the 16 Feb. 1861 column by Hilbert, p.54) giving a total score of +5-0=2 for Leonard over Marache sometime over the period Nov. 1860 to Feb. 1861. Hazeltine amended this total in his 23 Mar. 1861 column to +7-0=2, but for the offhand games we have to subtract the +3-0=1 result from the Third Free Tournament, leaving +4-0=1 for Leonard during the period Nov. 1860 to Mar. 1861. |
