| The May 1861 issue of the Chess Player's Chronicle gave the result as +2-3=0 for Kolisch. The June 1861 issue corrected this to +3-3=0 for Kolisch. Bell's Life in London (15 Dec. 1861, p.1) also gives the incorrect result. No date is given for the match in these sources but from the date of the first report in the Chess Player's Chronicle and the reports in the 21 Apr. 1861 issue of the Era (p.14) and the 27 Apr. 1861 issue of the Manchester Weekly Express and Guardian, it must have finished in Apr. 1861. The terms of the match were that Kolisch had to win 3 before Maude won 5, so Kolisch was deemed the winner of the match. |
