| Di Felice gives 'Defresne, Jean' but it is clear from reports in the Illustrated London News (27 Jul. 1861, p.100) and La Nouvelle Régence (Aug. 1861, p.237) that these games were played by Anderssen against the Rotterdam player Gustav Dufresne (though the name is actually given in the Illustrated London News as 'G. Dupresne'). La Nouvelle Régence (Nov. 1861, p.345) mentions a booklet of 14 games played by Anderssen on his visit to Amsterdam and Rotterdam in July 1861; Di Felice gives results of 4 matches by Anderssen in Rotterdam, including this one, totalling 14 games; DutchBase has a set of 15 games played by Anderssen in Amsterdam and Rotterdam in 1861, but these do not correspond to the games of the 4 matches given by Di Felice. |
