Di Felice gives the result of a match 8-6 for Neumann against Anderssen in July 1864. However, the Chess Player's Magazine of Nov. 1864 (p.351) says that Neumann made 'about even games' out of 56 played with Anderssen during the latter's 10-day visit to Berlin in July 1864. The Era of 10 July 1864 and the Chess Player's Magazine of Feb. 1865 (p.38) say that they played 78 games at Breslau, with result +37-32=9 for Anderssen. These results are hard to reconcile, but since the score given in the Era and the Chess Player's Magazine is most specific and the largest number of games, I take that to be the result of their informal games in 1864.
