La Grande Storia degli Scacchi gives location as Leipzig; Feenstra Kuiper, Di Felice, the Schachzeitung, the Neue Berliner Schachzeitung, the Era, and the Chess Player's Magazine give Berlin. The Chess Player's Magazine of Feb. 1865 (p.58) and Jan. 1866 (p.2), the Era of 22 Jan. 1865 (p.6) and 7 Jan. 1866 (p.4), the Field of 17 Sep. 1870, and the Schachzeitung of Jan. 1870 (p.4) give +5-2 for Paulsen, without mentioning the draws. Other sources give +5-2=3 for Paulsen, but Negele, as well as Renette and Zavatarelli, give +5-3=3 for Paulsen as the definitive result. The Neue Berliner Schachzeitung of Jun. 1864 (pp.161-174) gives all 11 games. |
