Notes: |
Feenstra Kuiper, Di Felice, La Grande Storia degli Scacchi, Spinrad and Sarah's Saint-Amant page give date as 1842. Golombek, Giffen and Sarah's Cochrane page give date as 1843. Murray (in the BCM - see Sarah's Staunton by Murray page) gives date as 1841-42. De Saint-Amant, in Le Palamède, indicates that these games took place within a few days in July 1842. All sources agree on the score except Minev and Murray (see Sarah's Staunton by Murray page), who give +6-4 for Cochrane. De Saint-Amant does not give the score specifically in Le Palamède, but says that of 13 games he played on his visit, 1 giving pawn and move to Wyvill, the others against Cochrane and Walker, he scored +6-6=1. If we take +4-6=1 as correct against Cochrane, then he only played one game against Walker, which he won, and he won the game against Wyvill. A win against Walker and a loss, a win and a draw against Cochrane are given in Le Palamède. |
