Le Sphinx of 15 June 1865 (p.76) says that Neumann won a slight majority of games played. Di Felice gives a match result of +2-1=1. The Era of 17 Sep. 1865 (p.6) says they 'made about even games'. Renette and Zavatarelli give a more convincing result of +9-5 for Neumann, with an unknown number of draws. This latter result comes from the Neue Berliner Schachzeitung of Jul. 1865 (p.213). The Neue Berliner Schachzeitung of Nov. 1865 (pp.321-323) has two draws between them played in June 1865, so I take the result to be +9-5=2, without evidence for further draws. |
