Event data
Place: London, England
Start date: 18 July 1866
End date: 10 Aug. 1866

Notes:
Feenstra Kuiper and Di Felice give dates 18 July - 10 Aug. 1866; Giffen gives July-Aug. 1866. Sergeant gives the date of the first game as 16 July 1866. The Illustrated London News of 28 July 1866 has a note saying that the match is to begin 'Monday next' but then gives the result after 4 games, so presumably, it referred either to Mon. 16 or Mon. 23 July 1866 as the start date. Le Sphinx says the match started about 20 July when Anderssen arrived in London. Bell's Life in London (21 Jul. 1866, p.12) says the match 'commenced on Wednesday', i.e., 18 Jul. 1866.
