| I do not know whether this was considered a formal match. This result is given by Feenstra Kuiper and Di Felice with date 1874. The Illustrated London News of 21 Feb. 1874 (p.187) gives two consultation games involving Zukertort and de Vere (playing with de Soyres and Coburn, respectively) and so the games reported by Feenstra Kuiper and Di Felice might have taken place around the same time. |
