| The Chess Player's Chronicle of 11 Oct. 1881 gives a score of +3-1 for Gunsberg, playing as Mephisto, against Marriott. Zavatarelli gives two games (one win each) dated only generally to October 1881, which may have been two of these games, but then gives three more games (+1-1=1) dated 15 Oct. 1881, and thus later than the report in the Chess Player's Chronicle. I will record the score therefore as +4-2=1 for Gunsberg, though it is possible that there were additional games. |
