| Feenstra Kuiper and Di Felice gives a 7-0 result for Mason over Alberoni in 1876 in Philadelphia (but they mislocate other Alberoni matches of 1876 in Philadelphia which were played elsewhere). Either this result was meant to be Bird-Alberoni (which was played in 1876 and resulted in 7-0 for Bird), or it was meant to be the Mason-Alberoni match of late 1875, but, as van Winsen shows, the score of that match was +7-1=3 for Mason. The Spirit of the Times of 13 Nov. 1875 gives the score +7-1=3 for Mason. |
