Notes: |
The 3 Feb. 1877 issue of the Illustrated London News gives the result, +11-7=1 for Wayte, saying the match was 'just decided', so I presume it ended in Jan. 1877. The 1 Jan. 1877 issue of the Westminster Papers gives a partial score of +8-6=1 for Wayte, so I presume it began late in 1876. The 1 Feb. 1877 issue gives the final result, +11-7=1. Feesntra Kuiper and Di Felice give the date as 1877. Sergeant attributes the match to the year 1876. |
