End date: Apr. 1843 |

Notes: |
This is part of a match in which 7 games were played at odds of Pawn and move and 6 were played even. It is mentioned (that Staunton was giving Cochrane odds) in the 15 May 1843 issue of Le Palamède, as having occurred following an even match in which Staunton won by a huge margin (presumably the +14-4 result mentioned in the 15 March 1843 issue). The Pawn and move match is also mentioned on p.131 of the May 1843 issue of the Chess Player's Chronicle. Therefore I am estimating that this match took place in April 1843. |
