Notes: |
The Feb. 1888 issue of the Chess Monthly says that Mackenzie arrived in Havana 'about the last week of November' and left 'in the first week of the new year'. The 1 Jan. 1889 issue of La Revista de Ajedrez dates the match to Dec. 1887. The 17 Jan. 1889 issue of the Columbia Chess Chronicle incorrectly gives the date as Dec. 1888. Zavatarelli, in the Quarterly for Chess History, gives dates 5-30 Dec. 1887. However, the last game is given in El Sport of 29 Dec. 1887 (p.2) and dated 23 Dec. 1887. |
