| Feenstra Kuiper, Di Felice, The International Chess Magazine, and Vazquez himself in El Ajedrez en Cuba give +5-1=3 for Mackenzie; the Feb. 1888 issue of the Chess Monthly says that Vazquez scored only 1 to Mackenzie's 5, and mentions no draws. The Jan. 1888 issue of the International Chess Magazine gives the first game, dated 6 Dec. 1887. The Feb. 1888 issue gives the 7th game, dated 21 Dec. 1887. Zavatarelli, in the Quarterly for Chess History, also gives the final date as 29 Dec. 1887. |
