| Fiske, Walker, Gilberg, Feenstra Kuiper, Di Felice and Stanley himself (in the Spirit of the Times of 24 May 1845) give +11-9 for Stanley, but Fiske indicates that he doesn't know how many draws there were. Spinrad cites the Spirit of the Times (3 Feb. 1844) as saying +11-9=5, and Schach Datenbank as having 13.5-11.5. La Grande Storia degli Scacchi also gives this score. Turf, Field and Farm (5 Jan. 1867) has +11-9=6 for Stanley. I assume it finished at the beginning of Feb. 1844. The American Chess Magazine gives two of the games, dated Jan. 1844 (pp.60, 79). |
