| Golombek's Encyclopedia gives 'Witthalm', and the Schachzeitung of Jan. 1866 (p.12) has 'Anton Witthalm'. Fiske gives 'Witholm', as does Walker in 'Deschapelles, the Chess King' (in Chess and Chess Players) and in the Philidorian. The 1836 volume of Le Palamède gives 'Wilhom', but in 1843 gives 'Witholm'. The Era of 8 Mar. 1863 (p.5) gives his age as 68, which, if accurate, implies a year of birth of 1792 or early 1793. |
