Name: Laroche, Pierre François

Died: 30 June 1850

Notes:

A player of the Paris chess cirle from the early 19th century (see the list of early Paris players given by St. Elme-le-Duc in La Palamède, 1845, v.5, p.30). Not to be confused with another Laroche ('Laroche, de Bayonne' or 'Jean Adolphe Laroche'), also in the Paris circle from the time of de la Bourdonnais, but younger. Both names appear in the subscription list to Kieseritzky's book 'Cinquante Parties...', and in lists of members and honorary members of the Paris chess circle (La Palamède, 1845, v.5, p.135; La Régence, 1849, v.1, p.164). Thimognier (see his Héritage des échecs français website and CN 7253) has identified him with strong probability as Pierre François Laroche and gives birth and death dates. His date of death is given in La Régence as 06-07-1850 but in French civil records it is given as 30-06-1850.
