Biographical data |
Name: Hartmanis, Alfrēds |
Born: 1 Nov. 1881 |
Died: 27 July 1927 |
|
Notes: |
Feenstra Kuiper calls this player 'Hartmann', but there was an 'Alfred Hartmann' (born in Germany in 1896) and an 'Alfrēds Hartmanis' (born in Latvia in 1881). Di Felice has 'Hartmanis, Alfreds I.'; Gaige has 'Hartmanis, Alfrēds' in Chess Personalia. In Chess Tournament Crosstables, Gaige has 'A. Hartmann' at Vilna (Vilnius) 1912, 'A.I. Hartmann' at Saint Petersburg 1913, and 'A. Hartmanis' at Riga in 1924 and 1926. I suspect that these are the same person, and distinct from Alfred Hartmann, who was younger. |
