Biographical data |
Name: Savage, Louis |
Born: 1892 |
Died: 16 Aug. 1925 |
|
Notes: |
An obituary for Louis Savage appears in the British Chess Magazine in 1925 (p.385) but I can only see parts of it in the Google Books copy. It appears to say that he died in Switzerland on 16 Aug. 1925. His grave appears at findagrave.com, with date of birth given as 1892. Neither of these sources give a middle initial or middle name, but the British Chess Magazine of 1924 (p.145) has 'L.P. Savage' in the City of London Championship, and Gaige also has 'L.P. Savage' in his crosstable for this event. It could be that this was a mistake and that the player was Louis Savage without middle name, or that the player was actually J.P. Savage. Either of these possibilities seem more likely than that the British Chess Magazine of 1924 uniquely knew his middle initial. |
